ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF ROOT EXTRACT OF TRIANTHEMA DECANDRA

Abstract

Methanolic extract of Trianthema decandra was investigated for its antibacterial activity against staphylococcus aureus (NCIM 2079), Escherichia coli (NCIM 2065), Bacillus subtilis (NCIM 2063), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (NICIM 2036) and Proteus vulgaris (NICIM 2027) at 100 μg/disc using disc diffusion method. The extract showed significant antibacterial activity and were comparable to Chloramphenicol (30/ μg/disc). Our findings confirm the traditional therapeutic claims for this herb.

HEPATITIS- B & SIDDHA MEDICINE

In Siddha, a combination of Liver tonics, Anti viral herbs and Immuno modulators will be quite effective in the management of B virus infection.

Now a days more number of cases are found to be positive for this virus, however eighty to ninety percentage of cases are  asymptomatic. This may be due to poor viral load or due to better immune status of the affected person.

In case the patient is still positive for the virus even after 5-6 months treatment, need not worry just stop medication for few months. But regular check up is required and certain lab tests have to be performed to establish his healthy state.
